Somebody asks this in every comment section: is a lunchbox with a screen really going to survive a jobsite? Fair question. A gang box is not a kind place, truck beds are worse, and nobody wants gear they have to baby.
We will answer it the way we would want it answered: with the build, the paperwork, the things we do not claim, and seven years of people using it hard.
What it is made of
The meal container is food-grade 304 stainless steel, the same alloy commercial kitchens run, and it shrugs off the dishwasher daily. The base is impact-resistant PC-ABS, the plastic family used in tool housings and luggage shells. And the whole unit travels inside an included insulated bag, which does double duty: it holds heat in while the meal heats, and it takes the scuffs, drops into the gang box, and truck-bed slides so the unit does not have to. Owners who use the bag, which is nearly all of them, are not handling a bare appliance on site.
The paperwork
Every model is UL 1026 and UL 2595 listed for fire and electrical safety, certified by TÜV Rheinland, FCC Class B, with UN 3481 transport certification on the battery. Full details live on the safety and certifications page.
Now the honest part. We do not publish an IP rating or a drop rating, because we have not certified to one, and we would rather tell you that outright than imply otherwise. Milwaukee publishes IP54 on the M18 Jobsite Lunch Warmer, and credit where due: that is a rugged product from a company that knows rugged. What we hold instead of a lab number is time in the field, and a lot of it.

How owners keep them alive
The routine is not complicated. Let the container take the beating; it is stainless and dishwasher-safe. Keep the base out of the dishwasher and out of standing water. Ride the unit in its bag, not loose in a truck bed. Charge it overnight. That is the whole maintenance schedule, and it is why reviews from year three read like reviews from week one.
